Here is my weapon of choice: A Yamaha KT100 powered kart. Gear is all purchased and good to go. Race is in a month. I plan to make frequent posts on here about my progress. The ultimate goal for me? Getting into an open wheel race car.

Is it a Top Kart? Who built the motor? Get that wet clutch off of there too, get a dry one. Will wear faster/need more maintenance, but will make the kart faster.

I agree. I had the same wet clutch and didn't like it much. I bought the Horstman HDC-5C and loved it. I also got the bearing support plate.

It's a Gold Kart, an Italian kart apparently. Engine is a Yamaha. But I'll keep those suggestions well in my mind. We just bought it today, and have had little experience with karts. But we are well informed of the sport. Any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated.

Sorry, I meant who built it, like blueprinted it. I used to run KT100s when I was younger, tons of fun.

If it needs to be rebuilt, I'd send it out to Woltjer in California. Always did a top notch job with our motors. That or Mike Manning Karting, got a few from him as well that made good power.

Horstman dry clutches are the way to go, for sure. Get that wet thing off of there. Just going to make you slow and frustrated.
